Review: God Johnson: The Unforgiven Diary of the Disciple of a Lesser God by Linda S Godfrey

Straight-laced wannabe actress Liberty agrees to be the sole disciple of a minor deity and Abe Lincoln lookalike oddly named God Johnson, in exchange for a fast track to world-hunger-fighting-super-celebrityhood. As Liberty tries to give him her heart – and a certain portion of her aura -- she breaks his Major Rule which is that humans shall not play god with other humans. He then must abandon her to the other lesser deities for their sport until she pays for her sin or dies. By the time Liberty discovers what the gods really want from her, she knows that what she wants from God Johnson is worlds away from her original plan. She must either accept the considerable and attractive sacrifice God Johnson makes for her, or leave the natural world and create her own brand of do-gooder stardom as the glamazon goddess she has become.

My Review:

I'd like to start off by saying reading this book was like Alice falling down the rabbit hole!  You weren't sure what you were going to run into but you learned to sit back and enjoy the ride.. I mean the read.  I fell in love with Liberty and the other characters Godlike and un-Godlike as well.  I don't know where Linda came up with the ideas for some of them but they were great and very descriptive. I found myself going back over certain parts going "What?!!"  You realize to let it go and sit back and just take it all in. I couldn't wait to see what happened next.  The book and the storyline are very creative.  How can you not like a minor deity who looks like Abraham Lincoln?  By the time I got to the end of the book I kept looking for the next page. I can't wait to see what happens in the sequel:

God Johnson--Goddess Liberty, Book Two of the Whetherworld

If you love fantasy you'll love this book.  Think out of the box and give it a go and let me know how you enjoyed the ride!
